Right relationship with God was Jeremiah’s priority as he surveyed the international scene.  Judah was a tiny nation.  The Babylonian armies had been cruelly conquering one small state after another, getting ever closer to Jerusalem and Judah was threatened with extinction. Read more of this post

What was the Old Testament prophet like?  Although they occasionally did strange things they were not eccentrics.    They were men (or women) of their culture and time, often educated people of standing in their community.   Their work was to interpret God’s word to their generation and call the people back to God.  Read more of this post

Chapter 2 of Jeremiah gives at least 9 little word pictures to help us understand what it is like when people / societies forsake God.  I remember a preacher saying, “When you preach a sermon, say one thing in 7 different ways, not 7 things in 1 way!”  This was very good advice and it’s what Jeremiah does in chapter 2.  Read more of this post

Today is Remembrance Day and it is good to remember those who have given their lives for others.  It is better to remember Jesus, the Son of God, who gave his life for our sins and was raised on the third day to life.
